Our estate planning practice utilizes many tools of tax planning including sophisticated shareholder agreements, operating agreements, and deferred compensation phantom stock agreements. We routinely represent clients forming LLCs, FLPs, Grantor Retained Annuity Trust (GRATs) and represent clients for installment sales to Intentionally Defective Grantor Trust (IDGTs) and generation skipping planning. We also are able to provide sophisticated income and estate planning for those with substantial retirement accounts. We have significant experience in estate administration in New York and New Jersey. We handle probate matters in New York and New Jersey, including the preparation of and filing of state and federal estate tax and inheritance tax returns, preparing disclaimers and providing post-death tax planning. With our experience, we work with families during the difficult period of time after death so that a smooth transition can be made.

We have a long history of providing personal planning needs including preparation of special needs trusts and charitable planning. Along with these services, we provide up to date powers of attorney, health care directives and proxies, and inter vivos trusts to not only minimize taxes but to provide for efficient management of our client’s personal and business wealth.

Along with our litigation department, we are able to handle complex probate and trust controversies as we routinely represent executors, trustees and beneficiaries attempting to resolve issues from estates emanating from wills, trusts, or emotions. In doing so, we work with our clients throughout the litigation process keeping in mind their personal goals and their needs.

Often clients come to us with issues from individual and business tax controversies. We represent them in audits at the state and federal level, appeals and litigation as well as representing them in criminal matters and with respect to collection by the State of New Jersey, New York Department of Taxation and Finance and the IRS.
